Many e-mail and Internet companies are now using programs to block unwanted e-mail, often called spam. Sometimes, however, these programs block e-mail you want to get.

A whitelist is a list of accepted items or persons in a set... a list of e-mail addresses or domain names from which an e-mail blocking program will allow messages to be received.

WHY IS THIS IMPORTANT?

Unsolicited, unwanted advertising e-mail, commonly known as “spam”, has become a big problem. It’s reached such proportions that most e-mail services and Internet Service Providers (ISPs) have put some sort of blocking or filtering system in place or begun relying on self-proclaimed blacklists to tell the good guys from the bad.

Bank's Vacuum SuperStores applauds their intention to protect you from spam, but everyone agrees that the current systems for stopping spam are far from a perfect solution. They often block e-mail that you’ve requested, but that fits somebody’s idea of what spam looks like. The more responsible anti-spam activists are working hard to cut down on these “false positives”, but in the mean time, you might unexpectedly find you’re not getting your subscription’s content...

As it happens, there’s something you can do to keep your subscription’s content from falling into the false positive trap. You can fight the blacklists with a “white-list”.

Of course, every e-mail system is different. Below are instructions for some of the more popular ones. If yours isn’t here, please contact your ISP’s customer service folks for their instructions. (Forward the answer to us, and we might add it!) If you’re using some sort of spam filtering or blocking software yourself (in addition to what your ISP provides), we’ve also listed instructions on how to exempt your subscription from some of the more popular of those programs.

AOL Mail

  1. Click Contacts in the right toolbar.
  2. Click Add Contact.
  3. Enter banksvac.com and additional information if you wish.
  4. Click Add Contact button in the popup to finish.

ComCast Email

  1. Click Preferences from the menu.
  2. Click Restrict Incoming Email.
  3. Click Yes to Enable Email Controls.
  4. Click Allow email from addresses listed below.
  5. Enter banksvac.com you want to whitelist.
  6. Click Add.
  7. Click Update to finish.

Earthlink

  1. Click Address Book.
  2. Click Add Contact.
  3. Save banksvac.com as a contact.
  4. Click save.

GMail

  1. Open an email from the sender that you want to whitelist.
  2. Click on the little down-pointing-triangle-arrow next to “reply.”
  3. Click Add banksvac.com to contacts list to finish.

Apple Mail

  1. Click banksvac.com in the header of the message you’re viewing.
  2. Click Add to finish.

NetZero

  1. Click the Address Book tab on the top menu bar.
  2. Click Contacts.
  3. Click Add Contact.
  4. Enter banksvac.com and additional information if you wish.
  5. Click Save to finish.

Yahoo! Mail

  1. Open the email message from the sender you want to add to your address book.
  2. Click Add to contacts next to banksvac.com.
  3. On the Add Contact popup, add additional information if needed.
  4. Click Save to finish.

 Windows Mail Live

  1. Open an email from the sender that you want to whitelist.
  2. Click Add to contacts next to banksvac.com to finish.

Microsoft Outlook 2003

  1. Open the email message from the sender you want to add to your address book.
  2. Right-click Click here to download images in the gray bar at the top of the message.
  3. Click Add Sender to Senders Safe List to finish.

Microsoft Outlook 2007

  1. Right-click on the email you received (in the list of emails).
  2. Click Junk E-mail.
  3. Click Add Sender to Safe Senders List to finish.

Microsoft Outlook 2010

  1. Click the Home tab.
  2. Click Junk.
  3. Click Junk E-mail Options.
  4. Click Safe Senders.
  5. Click Add.
  6. Enter banksvac.com and additional information if you wish.
  7. Click OK to finish.

Mac Mail

  1. Click Address Book.
  2. Click File.
  3. Click New Card.
  4. Enter banksvac.com and additional information if you wish. .
  5. Click Edit to finish

Mozilla Firebird for PC

  1. Click Address Book.
  2. Make sure Personal Address Book is highlighted.
  3. Click New Card. This will launch a New Card window that has 3 tabs: Contact, Address & Other.
  4. Under Contact, enter banksvac.com and additional information if you wish.
  5. Click OK to finish.

Mozilla Firebird for MAC

  1. Click Address Book.
  2. Make sure Personal Address Book is highlighted.
  3. Click New Card. This will launch a New Card window that has 3 tabs: Contact, Address & Other.
  4. Under Contact, enter banksvac.com and additional information if you wish.
  5. Click OK to finish.
